BETA IOTA CHAPTER OF ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY INC.

#UBREDFLAG

 

The Beta Iota Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. launched the Red Flag Campaign and took a stand against hate crimes, domestic violence, sexual assualt, and unhealthy relationships. They want to BREAK THE SILENCE and confront these issues that are continuously perpetuated in today's society.  We encourage all faculty, administration and staff to promote the #UBREDFLAG hastag and stand for the cause!

 

Integral Structure Exhibition Opening Reception

 Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 5:00–7:30pm

The Schelfhaudt Gallery invites you to an exhibition that explores artwork that has visible structures. The exhibition includes the possibilities of “structure” as the physicality of the Art, as well as the process of it. There is a myriad of different mediums explored in the exhibition: painting, sculpture, sound works, yarn sculpture, minimalist sculpture. Exhibiting artists are: Jennifer Davies, Geoffrey Detrani, Jon Elliot, Crystal Gregory, Robin Kang, Lawrence Kenny, and Akinori Matsumoto.  Exhibition curated by Peter Konsterlie.  Admission is free.  Exhibition is open to the public.  Complimentary off-street parking is available



Color Run

October 17th, 2015

The YMCA is proud to be the official local charity for the Color Run on Saturday October 17, 2015. The Color Run is a 5k, untimed race that will take place at the Webster Bank Arena. This event promotes health and happiness, in which participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. There are only two rules which are easy to follow, 1. Wear white at the starting line 2. Have fun. There will be music, dancing, stretching, and giveaways. Volunteering is free!

 UB Health Fair

November 4th, 2015

The UB Health Fair will be on November 4,  Wednesday from 10-3 in Wheeler Recreation. This health fair is open to the public. Last year we had over 50 vendors and 400 participants. There will be free massage, giveaways, screenings, healthy raffle prizes and much more. 

New Grocery Store Shuttle

The UB shuttle bus will now be running a second grocery run in addition to the Saturday afternoon shuttle run.  The schedule is listed below.

Interfaith Immersion & Service Weekend 

 November 13-15th, 2015 
An Alternative Break Experience: During this weekend we will attend worship services at a local mosque, synagogue and church. We will also be working on a community service project. This will be a very unique communal experience with participants living, reflecting, working, learning and having fun together. Signups will start October 1 at 11:00a.m. in the Office of Campus Activities & Civic Engagement, Student Center 231. Space is VERY limited.
