Moon Festival 

The Chinese Students & Scholars Association (UBCSSA) at UB will host the Moon Festival Event on Saturday. October 3rd at 3:00p.m. in the Student Center Great room. 

 
In this event, UBCSSA will introduce some basic Chinese culture to the community, and will have an activity called “Who’s Still Standing” – a quick Q & A game. In order to participate for the quick Q&A activity part, you’ll need to sign up in advance. Winners do receive prizes!! The champion will win a round trip flight ticket (up to USD $1,000), and the second place will win an iPad Mini 2.  While you are watching “Who’s still standing” you will also be able to taste moon cakes from the moon festival. 

Saudi Student Club Honored

The Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission in USA in its 38th Meeting for presidents of Saudi student clubs in America honored the Saudi Students club at the University of Bridgeport. The Saudi Student Club at UB won second place for the 2014-2105 academic year among the 334 clubs in the United States. The award is a recognition of the more than 90 activities that were organized by the club during the year, including the organization of events, training courses, helping students, and volunteering. The President of the Saudi Students club at the University of Bridgeport, Hosam Faqeha, received the certificate of achievement and $ 2,000 to support the activities of the club.
 

Dr. Khaled Elleithy, Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies and Associate Dean of the School of Engineering, is the advisor of the Saudi Students club at the University of Bridgeport since the club was founded in 2012. Dr. Elleithy says “The Saudi Club at the University of Bridgeport has placed itself as one of the best clubs in the country. The award from the Saudi Cultural Mission is a testimony of the numerous activities it has engaged in over the last academic year. These activities exceeded all levels of expectations. Many of the activities were open to all UB students."

The board of the Saudi Students Club for the academic year 2014 – 2015 was composed of:

  • Vice President of the Saudi Students Club at UB / Faten Mujalled (current MS Biomedical Engineering)
  • Financial Manager / Meshari Alanazi (MS Electrical Engineering)
  • The President of the Media Committee/ Mohammad Almutairi (MS Mechanical Engineering)
  • President of the Cultural Committee/ Omar Algushairi (MS Computer Science)
  • President of the Sports Committee / Sultan Alanazi (MS Technology Management)
  • President of the Cultural Committee / Mona Al Naser (MS Technology Management)
  • President of the Social Committee / Bayan Bawyan (MS Biomedical Engineering)
  • President of the Media Committee / Sarah AL-Garaishah (MS Global Development and Peace)

 

Welcome Back Weekend

October 9-11th 
Alumni, students, families, faculty, staff and friends of UB are all invited to come to campus for Welcome Back Weekend 2015!  Reconnect with old friends and rediscover the University of Bridgeport by attending one of many great events throughout the weekend!
 
$20 adults, $15 students and kids under 18, free for students on UB meal plan.
 
Interfaith Immersion & Service Weekend
 
An Alternative Break Experience: 11/13/15 - 11/15/15.  During this weekend we will attend worship services at a local mosque, synagogue and church. We will also be working on a community service project. This will be a very unique communal experience with participants living, reflecting, working, learning and having fun together. Signups will start October 1 at 11am in the Office of Campus Activities & Civic Engagement, Student Center 231. Space is VERY limited.
