Dear UB Family Members, On behalf of the Dean of Students and the Office of Alumni & Family Engagement, we wish you a warm welcome from UB! As a parent or family member, you play an important role in the UB community. Your support and involvement on campus helps raise the value of your student’s experience, and ultimately his or her degree from the University. Our goal is to keep families informed, empowered and engaged, and serve as an extension of their student’s journey. Below are some of the many ways for UB families to get involved:
Volunteering at UB Family members can contribute their expertise in mentoring, or helping in Admissions, Career Development, Academic Resource Center, as Athletics Boosters or via Community Service.
Act as Social Media Ambassadors Represent families via various web-based blogs, message boards and social networking opportunities.
On Campus Events Orientation and Homecoming are only a few of the many events on campus where families can make an impact. Hosting a Family Association “Family Dinner” at Homecoming where parents and students enjoy conversation, food and make connections; or by leading a breakout session “panel” led by family members (panel discussion topics focused on college life) and encourage family of new students to get involved.
Make a Gift Your participation truly makes a difference. Making a gift of any size to the Annual Fund will make transformative impact on our students and campus life today!
In addition, we are looking for representatives for our Family Council. The UB Family Council is an advisory board of parents and family members, which provides essential leadership and philanthropic support to UB. If you are interested in learning more about the UB Family Council, please email us at family@bridgeport.edu or call 203.576.4133.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!
Best regards,
